10 Oregon Coast hikes to reclaim the soul

November 2, 2022 by Matthew

Waves crash along the path on a famous Oregon Coast Hike at Shore Acres State Park. The sky is a swirl of gray and blue and the water foamy as it crashes on the rock formations.

The Oregon Coast is a stellar example of nature's forces joining in inspiring the human heart to open. Majestic fir trees line steep foothills grounding the earth while different versions of moss grip forests floors like a cozy shag carpet. Rough waves churn their way through ornate rock stacks -- proudly standing as a testament to resiliency. A wooded section of the historic Columbia River Highway which winds along the gorge in Oregon. This pavement road has a double yellow line in the center and the signature white painted wood guardrails from the 1920's add a bit of nostalgia to the scene.

Nothing beats the freeing feeling of setting out early in the morning for a day-trip adventure from Portland. No matter which direction, the rising mist flows to uncover the beauty of nature. It doesn't take too long for the green-to-concrete ratio to improve and soon enough open spaces of farmland, water, mountains and the ubiquitous douglas fir forests emerge as if to … [Read more...] about Day trip from Portland — 10 beautiful getaways

A slice of Americana on the Oregon Coast

July 4, 2019 by Matthew

A single blue mold for a sand castle sits on a sandy beach on the Oregon Coast amongst wily green beach grasses, with the jetting outline of Tillamook Head in the background.

Four of the best summer time activities to experience in Gearhart, Oregon; from a local perspective Growing up with the Oregon Coast Growing up in Scappoose, the Oregon Coast was about 90 minuets away and our family frequented Cannon Beach for a night or two on school breaks. My dad would take us exploring near Haystack Rock, where we'd search the tide pools for … [Read more...] about A slice of Americana on the Oregon Coast
