October 29, 2020 by Matthew

The Japanese Guest House at Bloedel Reserve is iconic with the geometric structure of wood beams filled with glass and sits amongst a formal mature garden with flowing green lawns and well trimmed shrubbery.

These spaces are known as P-Patch community gardens, and they light up all summer, hosting everything from chard to … [Read more...] about Seattle P-Patch photos — community gift of color In unexpected corners

August 26, 2020 by Matthew

A winding boardwalk traverses the marsh land at Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. The tide is out and reveals large areas of green grasses and the gazebo way in the distance is very tiny compared the the wide blue sky.

The Puget Sound is a commanding body of water that encapsulates a rich diversity of plants, trees, animals and interesting nooks and crannies -- all changing with the rise and fall of the daily tides. Where high tide exudes a water world of salty goodness, the low water mark reveals the underwater secrets -- uncovering giant kelp beds, mud flats and mollusks bathing in the … [Read more...] about Nisqually Wildlife Refuge — remarkable day access to nature’s balance

I would like to acknowledge that much of my inspiration comes from living on the traditional land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People past and present and honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe.
