Tokeland Hotel — spiritual oasis of the Washington Coast

September 17, 2020 by Matthew

The front view of the Tokeland Hotel, which is Washignton State's oldest continuous operating hotel. The wood siding is a blueish green color and the windows on each of three stories have eight panes each with white trim. There is a strong of lights running across a gathering area on the lawn in front of the hotel with four rustic picnic tables. The sky is blue with white puffy clouds.

I look for a  feeling of home that comes from the joy of carefully curated aesthetic, combined with thoughtful … [Read more...] about Tokeland Hotel — spiritual oasis of the Washington Coast

May 27, 2020 by Matthew

Cows are everywhere in Tillamook, Oregon. These holsteins are black and white with yellow ear tags. They are behind a barbed wire fence and surrounded by lush green blades of grass. The sky is blue in the background.

Tillamook enjoys a certain amount of regional notoriety used on the delicious cheese and ice cream products produced and sold all over the world. For example, back in the day when Alaska Airlines offered fruit and cheese platters for purchase on flights, there were always a few chunks of the flagship sharp cheddar cheese snuggling up to Beechers and Brie. But some people don't … [Read more...] about Until the cows come home — an ‘udderly’ fantastic day trip to Tillamook, Oregon

A slice of Americana on the Oregon Coast

July 4, 2019 by Matthew

A single blue mold for a sand castle sits on a sandy beach on the Oregon Coast amongst wily green beach grasses, with the jetting outline of Tillamook Head in the background.
