Many thoughtful professionals reach a point where:

• Their brain won’t turn off
• Decisions feel heavier than they should
• The internet never stops talking
• Success on paper doesn’t feel like alignment

This work helps you slow down enough to hear your own direction again.

“His guidance helped me slow down, be present, and enter a state of calm I hadn’t experienced in a long time. I was surprised at how his methods quieted my mind and had a lasting impact.”

A different way to find clarity

Most people try to fix burnout through:

• productivity systems
• therapy conversations
• retreats that fade when they return home

My work focuses on something deeper.

Your biological relationship with the Natural World.

Through guided nature connection, many clients experience clarity and calm they haven’t felt in years.

“The Wild Cure is far more than a book; it’s a profound, yet practical, invitation to reclaim the calm, clarity, and connection that modern life has obscured.”

I Know This Feeling Because I Lived It

I spent years doing everything “right.”

A successful airline career.
Travel to more than sixty countries.
A life that looked good from the outside.

But something inside me was restless.

The turning point came when I stopped searching for answers in productivity systems and started listening to the Natural World.

Over thousands of hours in forests, mountains, and coastlines, I began to understand something profound:

Nature is not scenery.

It is intelligence.

Today I help thoughtful professionals reconnect with that intelligence — so they can move through life with calm, clarity, and direction.

Matthew Kessi is the author of The Wild Cure: The Forgotten Medicine to Restore Calm, Clarity, and Connection.

The book introduces the Kinship Questions™ framework that forms the foundation of his mentorship work.

Why the Natural World works

Modern life keeps your nervous system in a constant state of activation.

Notifications.
Meetings.
Endless inputs.

Your brain never truly turns off.

The Natural World does something remarkable:

It reduces the noise in your system.

When that noise quiets:

• clarity returns
• creativity wakes up
• decisions become easier

Nature doesn’t fix you.

It simply helps you hear yourself again.

Many people arrive here searching for ways to reconnect with nature, but what they discover is something deeper: a living relationship with the Natural World that begins to guide everyday decisions.

Boardwalk leading hikers through a rich green forest of trees and moss.
Rich mountain water flows from a lake down a waterfall, surrounded by yellow and orange shrubs as the mountains peek from mist in the background.

WHO THIS IS FOR

This work is for you if

• You’re a thoughtful professional navigating burnout or transition
• Your brain struggles to turn off even when life looks successful
• You want clarity about the next chapter of your life
• You’re curious about deeper awareness but not interested in substances
• You want meaningful change without abandoning your career

This work is not for you if

• You want quick inspiration or motivational coaching
• You expect someone else to tell you what decisions to make
• You’re looking for productivity hacks instead of deeper clarity

The Kinship Questions™ Framework

Over years of guiding people through forests, coastlines, and wilderness landscapes, I noticed something consistent.

When people slow down enough to truly engage with the Natural World, clarity appears.

But most people don’t know how to enter that conversation.

The Kinship Questions™ are six simple prompts that help you move from observing Nature to participating in it.

Some people describe this work as nature coaching, though I see it more as a mentorship with the Natural World itself.

This framework unfolds in three stages.

The boardwalk makes a tight squeeze through dense forest shrubbery and rich red trees.

Part I — Recognizing the Disconnection

Before clarity can return, we need to see what modern life has done to our attention.

Most thoughtful professionals live in a state of constant activation:

• endless decisions
• digital noise
• responsibilities that never fully switch off

Even when you step into Nature, your mind often keeps racing.

The first stage of this work helps you notice that pattern and create the conditions where deeper awareness becomes possible.

This is where many people experience their first sense of relief.

For the first time in years, their nervous system begins to slow down.
Brightly colored red and white striped flowers sprout from a green plant.

Part II — Entering the Conversation with Nature

Once the noise quiets, something remarkable begins to happen.

    You start noticing patterns.

The rhythm of wind in the trees.
The way water moves around obstacles.
The quiet intelligence woven through the
    living world.

The six Kinship Questions™ guide you into a deeper relationship with these signals.

Instead of simply enjoying a walk outside, you begin participating in a dialogue with the Natural World.

This is where many clients experience moments of unexpected clarity, insight, and calm.

Part III — Bringing the Insight Home

      Insight alone is not enough.

The real power of Nature connection appears when what you discover outdoors begins to shape how you live.

      Clients begin to:

      • make clearer decisions
      • set healthier boundaries
      • move through work and relationships with steadier energy

Instead of returning from Nature feeling temporarily refreshed, they carry that clarity into daily life.

This is where the deeper transformation happens.

The difference between reading about this and experiencing it

You can begin exploring these questions on your own.

In fact, that’s the purpose of my book, The Wild Cure.

But many people find the process accelerates dramatically when someone experienced guides the journey.

That’s the role I play for my private clients.

        What Clients and Readers Experience

The work of reconnecting with the Natural World often creates shifts that are both subtle and profound.
Here are a few reflections from people who have experienced the work through mentorship, retreats, and The Wild Cure.

“The most meaningful and significant impact since working with Matthew is my decision to resign from my job. I found clarity around what was and was not possible in my role—and then the courage to gracefully exit from it.”

        Imagine six months from now

Six months will pass either way.

The question is whether it passes in the same noise and uncertainty—or with a deeper sense of calm, clarity, and direction.

        • Your mind feels quieter.
        • You wake up with a sense of direction instead of background noise.
        • Decisions come faster because you trust your own insight.
        • Work feels purposeful instead of draining.
        • And when life becomes chaotic again — as it inevitably does — you know how to return to calm.

That’s the purpose of this mentorship.

What the Mentorship Journey Looks Like

Every mentorship begins with a short Nature Alignment Call, where we explore what’s currently feeling stuck or unclear in your life and determine whether this work is the right fit. Over time, many clients discover they are learning to listen to Nature’s Wisdom in ways that bring surprising clarity to daily life.

If we decide to move forward, we begin with an intake conversation where we shape a twelve-session arc over six months tailored to your current season of life. We’ll also map out the rhythm of our meetings so the process feels steady and spacious.

Our sessions are 60 minutes, held virtually on Zoom, and guided by the structure of the Kinship Questions™ framework—a simple set of prompts that help you reconnect with the intelligence of the Natural World and your own inner knowing.

        Inside a Typical Mentorship Session

Each session begins with a short Nature connection practice.

Think of it as a slow walk through the forest—an intentional moment to exhale the noise of daily life and settle your attention. This simple practice helps your nervous system slow down so you can access deeper clarity and insight.

From there, we explore a theme drawn from the Kinship Questions™, such as:

“How can you say yes to your own wild Nature?”

These themes provide structure, but every conversation is shaped around what is most alive for you in the moment.

During our time together you’ll have space to reflect, ask questions, and explore what you’re noticing in your life and your relationship with the Natural World.

Many clients discover that insights emerge naturally as their attention slows and deepens.

You’ll leave each session with a few practical reflections or practices to explore between meetings—small seeds that continue growing long after our conversation ends.

What Clients Often Experience Over Six Months

Real change rarely happens in a single moment.

It unfolds slowly—like the changing of seasons in the Natural World.

While every mentorship journey is unique, many clients notice a similar rhythm as their relationship with Nature and themselves begins to deepen. While every mentorship journey is unique, many clients notice a similar rhythm as their relationship with Nature and themselves begins to deepen.

Month 1–2: Slowing Down the Noise

At the beginning of our work together, most people arrive carrying a tremendous amount of mental noise.

        Deadlines.
        Decisions.
Responsibilities that never fully switch off.

The first stage of the journey focuses on slowing down enough to hear yourself again.

Through simple Nature connection practices and the Kinship Questions™, your nervous system begins to settle. Many clients say this is the first time in years they’ve felt a real sense of calm and spaciousness.

        Month 3–4: Discovering New Clarity

Once the noise quiets, something remarkable begins to happen.

        Patterns become visible.

You begin noticing what truly energizes you—and what quietly drains you.

Many clients experience moments of unexpected insight during this phase. Decisions that once felt complicated start to feel simpler and more aligned with who they really are.

The Natural World becomes a mirror, reflecting truths that were always there but difficult to see in the pace of modern life.

Month 5–6: Living From Your Natural Rhythm

As the mentorship progresses, the work shifts toward integration.

Instead of clarity appearing only during our sessions, clients begin carrying that steadiness into everyday life.

They make decisions with greater confidence.
They communicate with more calm and presence.
They feel a deeper sense of belonging—to their lives and to the world around them.

The goal isn’t escape from life.

It’s learning how to move through life with the same calm rhythm you feel in Nature.

        Work with Matthew

Private mentorship is a deeper path for those ready to explore this work more seriously.

Through guided nature journeys and personal sessions, we work together to:

        • calm the constant activation of your mind
        • reconnect with your natural rhythm
        • access deeper insight through the Natural World
        • translate those insights into real life decisions

Because this work is deeply personal, mentorship is limited to a small number of clients each quarter.

        Questions About the Mentorship Journey

You may still have a few questions about working together. That’s completely natural.

Can we meet first before deciding to work together?

Yes. The first step is a Nature Alignment Call, a relaxed conversation where we explore what’s currently unfolding in your life and whether this work feels like a good fit.

There’s no pressure during this call—just an opportunity to get to know each other and see if the mentorship journey makes sense for you.

        Nature alignment call
Is this work only for people who consider themselves spiritual?

        Not at all.

Many clients simply want more clarity, calm, and direction in their lives. Some approach this work from a spiritual perspective, while others experience it as a form of reflection, mindfulness, or personal development.

The Natural World works regardless of belief systems. Curiosity and openness are enough.

What if I don’t feel especially connected to nature?

        That’s completely okay.

Many people arrive feeling disconnected from the Natural World. In fact, that’s often why they’re here.

Part of this mentorship is simply rediscovering how to slow down, notice more deeply, and reconnect with something that has always been present.

Do I need experience with meditation or nature practices?

        No experience is necessary.

Many people come to this work as beginners. The practices we explore are simple and accessible, and we move at a pace that feels natural and comfortable for you.

Many people arrive curious about how to reconnect with nature but unsure where to begin. This mentorship simply provides a structure for exploring that connection in a deeper way.

What happens during a mentorship session?

Each session begins with a short nature-connection practice to help slow the mind and bring your attention fully into the present moment.

From there we explore themes from the Kinship Questions™ framework, using reflection, observation, and conversation with the Natural World to uncover insights about your life, relationships, and direction.

Most clients leave sessions with a deeper sense of calm, clarity, and a few simple practices to explore between meetings.

Why is the program six months long?

Real and lasting change rarely happens in a single moment.

The six-month structure creates space for reflection, integration, and deeper awareness to unfold naturally. As we work together over time, insights begin to build gradually—through conversation, observation in the Natural World, and the practices between our sessions.

Many clients find that this slower rhythm allows the clarity they discover in nature to become something they can carry into everyday life.

What if I live near Seattle?

If you are in the Seattle area, we can occasionally meet in person for sessions in places such as the Washington Park Arboretum, depending on scheduling and availability.

Many clients also find that virtual sessions work beautifully, since nature connection practices can be done anywhere.

Can this work complement therapy or counseling?

        Yes.

Many clients work with therapists, counselors, or other professionals. Mentorship with me focuses on helping you access insight and clarity through your relationship with the Natural World.

Those insights often become valuable topics for deeper exploration with other professionals in your support system.

What if my life is already very busy?

Many of the people I work with have full professional and personal lives. In fact, that’s often why they begin this work.

The mentorship isn’t designed to add more obligations to your schedule. Instead, it helps you create small moments of clarity and reflection that fit naturally into your existing life.

The practices we explore together are simple and adaptable—often as brief as a few minutes of intentional observation during a walk, a commute, or time outdoors.

Over time, many clients find that these small shifts actually help them move through their work and responsibilities with greater calm, focus, and perspective.

What if I’m curious about this work but not sure it will work for me?

        That’s completely understandable.

Many people who begin this journey arrive with curiosity rather than certainty. Often they’ve tried other approaches to finding clarity—books, retreats, productivity systems, or different personal development practices—and are still searching for something deeper.

The purpose of our work together isn’t to force a particular outcome. Instead, it creates the conditions where insight and clarity can emerge naturally through your relationship with the Natural World.

The best way to know whether it resonates is simply to start a conversation.

That’s exactly what the Nature Alignment Call is for.

Is this mentorship a substitute for therapy or medical care?

        No.

My work is intended as a complementary form of personal development and nature-based mentorship. It is not medical care, therapy, or a replacement for professional mental health services.

Anyone seeking diagnosis or treatment for a medical or mental health condition should consult a licensed healthcare professional.
