The best markets in the world to explore

March 31, 2021 by Matthew

The entrance to Pike Place Market in Seattle has large neon red sign welcoming guests with brick street and cloudy sky.

Where can you shop for the fresh catch-of-the-day while gazing out at snow-capped mountains above a collection of waterways and inlets — all from the urban core of a world-class city? Greenland Qamutit — “sled house” yearning for what is home

November 22, 2020 by Matthew

Konstantin Ikonomidis (Costa) is a bursting ball of kinetic energy -- the kind that exudes creativity mixed with a playful kindness. April 29, 2020 by Matthew

Nature is coming alive in spring with flowers and new buds in every direction, so there is still optimism and light in the air. The … [Read more...] about The soul of a souvenir

What it’s like to explore the ancient Mayan ruins of Coba

February 27, 2020 by Matthew

The great Nohoc-Mul is the highest Mayan Pyramids and climbing to the top is still allowed. In this shot the grand blocks of stone piling up to form the giant structure are behind several jungle trees that wind their way towards the sun and cast a lovely buttery morning shadow on the dirt floor of the jungle, amongst long winding roots that make there way to soil

The ancient Mayan ruins of Coba spread over a vast area on the Yucatan Peninsula, where the major civilization lived for well over a thousand years until the arrival of Spanish explorers in the late 1490's. The bustling community of up to 50,000 competed with Chichen-Itza for regional dominance until a decline that virtually left a ghost town, used only for ceremonial needs by … [Read more...] about What it’s like to explore the ancient Mayan ruins of Coba

I would like to acknowledge that much of my inspiration comes from living on the traditional land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People past and present and honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe.
